Abionic receives the De Vigier 2011 Award
More over 200 companies and investors met today in Solothurn on the occasion of the 23rd award of De Vigier Foundation. Five Swiss companies active in medical technology (Abionic SA), in biotechnology (Malcisbo AG), in information technology (GetYourGuide AG) and robotics (ViSSee Sagl and SkyBotix AG) were recognized and awarded each with CHF 100,000. The evaluation criteria were the original character of the project, its social dimension, its technical and financial feasibility, and the commercial potential.
The canton of Solothurn-based entrepreneur William A. De Vigier wanted to help young Swiss entrepreneurs by providing them with what he has been lacking when he started his own company in 1935: the starting capital. Today, this is still the main obstacle to the realization of an idea as brilliant as it is. Since its creation in 1987, the De Vigier Foundation aims to ensure the active promotion of the economy by financially supporting young Swiss people who have ideas and have the desire to start a business, to make it effective and ensure its growth.
This award is the 11th recognition that Abionic received, which is a record in Switzerland for an early- stage company. Among the awards are: DebioPharm Award, PERL Award (Prix Entreprendre Lausanne Région), KPMG Inspiration grant, Startups.ch Award, Young Entrepreneur Award from the French Advisory Committee for Foreign Trade in Switzerland, VentureKick grants (all 3 stages), Venture Leaders, IMD Startup Competition, FIT grant (Foundation for technical innovation) and finally, Abionic was also selected amongst the 20th best Swiss Business Ideas (Venture 2010).
